“I guess this room is good enough for me.” David sat onto his bed, unfamiliar to it. He hadn’t really slept in a bed before. It was odd for him. He showed signs of nervousness, even though he was alone. Kelly was packing her stuff up to move in with him. He didn’t want her to see him nervous. He wasn’t that kind of guy. He was stronger then most people because he had been through so much. The days outside made him tougher. He knew it would work out. If one guy couldn’t take him down, no one could.

Kelly walked in through the door, holding a bag. It seemed lightweight. She really did travel lightly. She laid her stuff down on the bed parallel from his, slowly turning to face him.

“Are you going to be alright staying here?” she jumped back onto her bed, and looked him straight in the eyes.

“Its all new to me.” He ran his hand across the blankets of the bed. “I’ve never had the laps of luxury before so I don’t exactly know how to be a common person.”

“It’ll take a while to get use to.” She smiled, pulling her hair back into a short ponytail. “I know so.”

“So how do I act like a common person?” he asked, standing up.

Kelly looked him over yet again. She had done this too many times. He definantly didn’t look like a normal person. She stepped over to the window and looked about the courtyard. She stared at all the students seeing them in their styles. She knew she had to work to get him looking good.

“First, we need to get you some clothes.” She studied his chosen, or more like forced, outfit. A torn green t-shirt and a pair of ripped cargo pants.

“And then what?” he stared down at his clothes.

“You need a shower.” She didn’t exactly want to offend him. “Your hair is a grease mess and you could really use some soap, no offence.”

“None taken.” He smiled. He lifted himself up, offering her a hand and helping her up. She smiled, but blushed, being as close as she was to his face.

“Do you want to get going?” he asked, noticing the bright red her face was becoming.

“Yes.” She said as he ended his sentence. “Lets go before we get caught.”

The two of them hurried out the door. They rushed down the hall, and stared down the steps before going down them.

“Why weren’t you in a big rush to get down the steps?” David asked, staring at as they went down the hall. She looked around the corner and went out the door.

“We can’t have anyone seeing us as we leave the grounds.” She explained as they walked onto the grounds. “We’ll be so dead.”

“Please.” He stopped her. “They could take one look at me and force me out there.”

She didn’t say anything, even though she agreed. She looked at the entrance, totally clear. But she didn’t trust it. She knew someone would come along as they were leaving.

“Lets go before we are so busted.”  She grabbed his arm and hurried to the exit. But she wasn’t quick enough and Principal Delmas bound down to them. He looked really angry. She wanted to explain their reason for leaving, but she was afraid to get them both into trouble.

“Please go easy on us, sir.” David said, before the principal could yell. “My friend and I were going down to the stores to get me something new to wear when I start school tomorrow. As you notice I am a complete mess, living on the streets and not having and thing but this to wear. I hope you’d understand. Kelly here, has the money I need to buy something new, she must help me, because I’ve never done it before.”

Kelly’s mouth hung open. She just about threw her head back to scream cursing words because she knew she was never going to get out of this alive. Before she had the chance to slap David upside the head, Principal Delmas nodded and moved to the side.

“You do just that, Mr. Gecko.” He said. “Do not get into any trouble.”

Kelly’s eyes were still wide as they left. “How did you do that?”

“Being a martial artist, you have to be clever.” He explained. “You just have to know where the weak spot is.”

Kelly nodded. She didn’t know if it would work on everyone, but it was possible he could be a great aspect for anyone. He had his strengths, but he seemed not to show his weaknesses, even though she wanted to know so she could avoid it. But that would be harder, because it seemed that this boy was too headstrong to break though.

---------------------------------

“Would you look at that.” Odd pointed out from the pillars of the buildings. He was watching as Kelly and the new guy ran off through the streets. Ulrich stared up for a moment, but looked back down. A vein showed through the right temple of his forehead. He was still quite upset about Kelly. It was the oddest feeling. He might actually be attracted to her.

“Hey, Ulrich.” Yumi tried to get him out of his own little world. “Is everything ok?”

“Everything would be fine if I hadn’t been so stupid lately.” He snapped.

“Ulrich, what did you do?” Jeremie asked, looking away from his laptop, still trying to figure out why Kelly had remembered the return to the past. “It couldn’t have been anything horrible.”

Ulrich never said anything about telling Kelly about Lyoko. Even if she didn’t believe it and thought they were crazy.

“Its something with Kelly, I’m sure.” Aelita looked over at Ulrich. “She moved out of our room.”

“I bet she’s living with that new guy now.” Odd said jokingly to Ulrich, who was in no mood for it.

“It is.” Ulrich said. Everyone turned their attention to him. “I told Kelly about Lyoko.”

Jeremie’s jaw dropped, sitting his laptop down and getting up to Ulrich. “Are you crazy Ulrich? She could tell the police on us or she could do worse to us!”

“Relax, Jer.” Ulrich said calmly. “She didn’t believe me anyways, and called me psycho. She left after that.”

“Oh.” Jeremie said, his voice full of disgust for her. “I don’t trust her.”

“You’ve told us way too many times.” Aelita pointed out. He turned and resumed his place with his laptop positioned on his lap again.

“I can tell what’s wrong with you.” Odd said, walking over to Ulrich. “Your jealous because Kelly is hanging out with another guy.”

“Get a life, Odd.” Ulrich defended, making Odd snicker.

“I knew it.” He smiled before stepping back before death came to him. But it never did.

Ulrich leaned back on the pillar in deep thought. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do to make this moment any better for them. He didn’t want to admit it, but Odd was right. He was getting slightly jealous, but there was no proof that Kelly and the new guy were in a relationship. He just hoped that she wouldn’t get into a relationship behind him. He was actually afraid of it.

---------------------------------

Kelly sat outside the door in the hallway. David was in the middle of getting dressed in his new clothes. He hadn’t asked her not to leave him, she just wanted him to be able to be independent. She played with her fingers and the rims of her jacket as she waited. She watched as people walked down the hall, watching her closely as they passed, and then again as they went back. She didn’t care though. No need to worry about them. She worried right now about David alone right now. He needed the most help.

David opened the door, stepping out smoothly, sliding across the floor. His new outfit was a half-dark, half-light green Chinese shirt, the same cargo pants he had before, but they were new and green and black tennis shoes. Since his shower, his hair was clean, but still long a slightly wild.

“So what do you think?” he asked. Kelly slid up the wall and took a good look at him.

“The only thing I would change is your hair.” She said, thinking for a moment about how to change it. She took her black ponytail holder and tied it down, bringing down over his left shoulder.

She smiled, blushing slightly. “You look perfect.”

She wasn’t the only one to go red. He went bright as a tomato and laughed slightly. “Thanks for helping me out here. You’re a really good friend.”

She couldn’t believe that he went from looking like a total car wreck to becoming so handsome. It was shocking. She never really used that word. Now she felt a bit more comfortable, she could really speak.

“You know, we’re missing lunch.” She said, dying down on the blush. “Do you want to go down?”

“Lets.” He put an arm around her shoulder and they both walked down the hall.

They entered the cafeteria where everyone was already eating. Sitting at their normal table, the gang looked up to see Kelly and David walk in. They stared as they passed by, but when they did, Kelly looked at them, squinting her eyes and scowling. They all looked back, shocked that they’d get a look like that from anyone other then Sissi and her group.

David looked at her, seeing the nasty look upon her face. “What’s wrong?”

“Just my ex-friends.” She whispered letting the word ex become a part of her vocabulary. He stared blankly, following her to the lunch line.

“What do you have against them?” he asked, placing a hand on her shoulder and giving her a warm smile. She didn’t take it.

“I’d rather not talk about it right now, okay?” she swiped his hand off of her shoulder. “I’m not ready to.”

He nodded, but he was obviously so confused. She was already upset and he didn’t say anything, trying to avoid abuse. He never really got abused, but he didn’t want to lose a friend. She was too nice, and she was getting over something that happened between her and her friends. Maybe he could talk to her a bit and she’d tell him what happened.

---------------------------------

“I can’t believe she just did that to us.” Aelita said, putting a hand on Ulrich’s shoulder. Ulrich was really upset about this. Kelly now officially hated the group and it was all his fault. He was angry, upset, and lost all in one emotion.

“Are you ok, Ulrich?” Yumi asked. “You look sick.”

“I’m fine.” He lied. “I just don’t feel like eating right now.”

He stood up, grabbing his plate and throwing it away as his friends watched. He left, in hopes that he would not run into Kelly and David as they passed by with their lunch and sat down at a table by themselves.

“I know where he’s going.” Odd said, standing up. “I’ll go and talk to him.”

He stood up, leaving the tray that was covered with nothing but crumbs and left quickly, making his was to their room. Ulrich sat on the bed, his head resting on his knees as Odd arrived. He wasn’t showing any weakness to the situation

“Why did I have to tell her?” he asked. But it seemed as if he didn’t really want an answer.

“Why don’t you just admit you’re jealous?” Odd shoved his hands in his pockets and looked out the window at the people below. He saw Kelly and David in the window of the cafeteria, but just barely. They were smiling, laughing. They were definantly enjoying themselves. Ulrich was in denial. Of course, he couldn’t claim her, but he didn’t want to see them together. It just didn’t seem right.

“You should tell her what your thinking.” He suggested. “You should, before he takes her.”

“Why can’t you just get it through your head that I don’t like her like that?” Ulrich mumbled from his knees. Odd sighed, and looked down at him.

“Because you’re lying.” Odd sat next to him. “Any time you see her now, you get upset because she’s angry. You were the one she kissed in the hall yesterday and you practically melted afterward. You like her.”

“I just don’t know if she likes me anymore because of that whole Lyoko thing.” He hated himself now for it.

“I bet she does.” Odd said, getting up and going to the door. “She just doesn’t know how to tell you.”

---------------------------------

“Kelly, give me what you got.” David said, a sly smile across his face. They were in the middle of the soccer field and Kelly was preparing to give him a good fight, even though she didn’t know how to. She let her mind wander to Sissi and her goons giving her a hard time earlier, and threw a punch, that David caught and held. She was waiting for him to push her back, but it never came.

“Fighting is not about anger, its about peace.” He said, dropping her fist. She turned, taking a breath and relaxing herself, drawing away from the thoughts of Sissi and Nicholas and Herb. She didn’t want to think about getting beat up. She wanted to think about how David did it to them.

She took her chances and tried to use the same technique he had uses to knock Nicholas out, throwing the hardest punch she could. She was still quite weak though and missed him, having him grab her by the wrist, twisting her around and reversing her arm behind her.

“Its not about power, its about grace.” He let go of her. She rubbed her arm, wondering how in hell she was supposed to hit him if he kept catching her. She chose to try to understand what he was saying. Its not about anger or power. That’s all she needed.

He threw a punch at her, but she stayed quick on her feet and caught it, and used the same technique by reversing it behind him. He swiftly reached for her wrist, reversing it behind her back. She dropped and rolled beneath him, jumping up to throw an arm around his neck, catching him off guard, but guessing he had something else in his mind on how to get out of it. He was ready then. He sunk down, flipping back and spinning low to the ground, making her trip and fall back on his leg. She winced as her back came to contact with his rock hard shin, but he didn’t flinch.

“Its not about knowing your enemy, its about knowing yourself.” He lifted her up from behind her head. She rubbed her back, staring at him as he smiled at her on the grass.

“I think you broke my back.” She said, jokingly. “I don’t think I want any more lessons like that.”

“You’ll get use to it.” He took one of her hands away from her back and held it. She blushed, just letting whatever happens, happen.

“What do you have against those guys we saw at lunch today anyways, or can you still not tell me?” he asked, running his thumb across her palm.

“My one friend, Ulrich started telling me this weird story about this virtual world and how he and his friends fought this evil computer virus.” She explained, a bit of a giggle was in her voice. “It was so crazy, it almost sounded like a clinic story or something.”

“You know, you shouldn’t judge people by what they say.” He looked up. “They probably had something that they just couldn’t tell you. You don’t always have to get an answer from everyone.”

“I know, but they didn’t have to lie.” She ran her hand across the grass with a sigh. “I don’t like to be the last to know.”

“Maybe you should give them another chance.” He moved in a bit closer to her.

“But what about you?” she was a bit worried about losing him because of her old friends.

“There isn’t a reason why we can’t still be friends right?” he smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder.

“I guess.” She tried to hold a smile of her own. “I just don’t want to give something great away.”

“You wont.” He leaned over to her. “Trust me.”

She finally gave him a real smile. She stared at him as the wind blew, making his long black locks fly with it. Even thought the wind chilled everything for the moment, it wasn’t cold around them. There was a sensation of warmth, and no one else seemed to be there. The world had vanished. There were only the 2 of them. Them and the moment.

They both seemed to blush, standing in the moment, before David leaned in and kissed her slowly. She wasn’t shocked, but it wasn’t really seen coming to her. She didn’t want to be too excited, but she wanted the passion and needed the love.

He pulled back, his face bright red, brighter then hers. They couldn’t speak. It was perfect though. For the most part, that was. But the footsteps of a certain someone could be heard.

“Well, would you look at that.” Sissi and her 2 idiots stepped onto the field. “Kelly has dumped that ugly boy for a good looking one. What a shame for him.”

Kelly looked at him, wishing she could make Sissi go away and let the moment continue.

“Its good to see you again.” David huffed beneath his breath. “You know, it really offends me being called ugly, and then good looking. I don’t see how it mixes.”

Sissi stared in shock. “You the ugly boy that knocked out Nicholas?”

“In the flesh.” He joked. “I’d be careful what you say.”

“Whatever.” She said, pointing over to Nicholas. “My friend here has something to ask of you.”

Nicholas stood front and center, waiting as David helped Kelly off of the ground. “I would like to challenge you to a rematch. That fight we had earlier, was unfair, because I was wasn’t prepared.”

David scoffed at it, but he didn’t care. “Fine with me. I accept.”

“It’s going to be so much easier to take you down because you’ll have your girlfriend grabbing onto you.” Sissi taunted, turning around and walking off.

Kelly didn’t know what to think about this. Was it a good idea?

“Are you really sure you want to do this?” she asked, taking a look at the determined look on his face.

“If I can take him down once, I can do it again.” He said. “And don’t worry about what they say, you won’t bring me down.”

---------------------------------

Ulrich watched from the window of his room, staring down as he watched David and Kelly kiss. He didn’t want to do anything, but he knew something had to be done about this guy.

“This guy, will not keep her.”
